Prepping is an important part of cooking, and having everything in its place makes it a lot easier. With enough space, prepping can be made easier, faster and more enjoyable.

Tackling the disorganisation in your kitchen doesn’t need to be overwhelming. With some simple strategies, you can get your Kitchen clutter-free and neat – making it a much more enjoyable place to cook, eat, and spend time with family and friends.

So, say goodbye to kitchen clutter! With these detailed organising tips, you can maximise the storage space in your kitchen and keep it that way. It will not only provide you with more room to work but also help you find hidden spaces that could be put to use.

How to remove clutter from your kitchen

Start with a clean kitchen.

The kitchen is often the hub of the home, and it can be difficult to keep it organised. However, tackling the mess in the kitchen first can make all the difference when it comes to keeping your kitchen tidy. Not only does cleaning up the kitchen give you room to work with fewer distractions, but it also helps ensure that all of your surfaces are clean and ready for use. With a little bit of effort and organisation, you can create a functional and inviting space in no time.

Clear it out.

Get rid of those items that you don’t use by either throwing them out or putting them aside to be sold or donated. If you don’t have enough kitchen space, store the appliances you rarely use in the basement or attic. If you’re not using your food processor very often, it’s best to store it in the less-accessible cabinets above your fridge. That way, you can make sure that it’s always there when needed but also out of sight and out of mind.

Utilise your counter space.

Establishing a dedicated workspace for yourself is an ideal way of increasing productivity. Keep all the tools and devices that you need often in this space so that you don’t have to search for them when required. This will save you valuable time! If you’re like me and can’t start the day without a cup of green tea, then you should ensure your kettle is always within arm’s reach.

Arrange by function.

Store together the items that you use together. Have one spot with all the equipment you need to make a cup of coffee or tea or assemble a salad.

Organise your space.

Maximise your kitchen storage space with some useful organising products! Modular organisers, sliding drawers, tiered shelves and pull-down racks are all great options to help you find what you need in a pinch. Don’t let items get lost in the nooks and crannies of your cabinets. If you’re looking for convenience, there are products available on the market that don’t require installation. So, why waste time and energy when you can simply purchase something that is ready to use?

Utilise vertical space.

Make full use of every inch of space in your kitchen by installing hanging hooks. They’ll come in handy for storing expensive cookware that needs to remain safe yet easily accessible. Why not think about adding a trellis too? Make the most of your kitchen space by adding mugs, towels and other small items in the otherwise wasted areas like between cabinets and counters. If you own a pantry or kitchen door, install a door rack for extra storage to get maximum value out of all areas.

Go paper free.

If you’re overwhelmed with all the recipes and take-out menus, think about how it impacts the environment. With everything available online, you can significantly reduce all that additional paperwork. Commit to having a limited amount of storage space, whether it’s one bin or clip, to ensure that you don’t keep paperwork

How to keep a kitchen clutter-free

Keep your kitchen organised.

Celebrate that you already did the hard work of organising your kitchen! It requires much less effort to keep it organised than to organise it in the first place. Put a bit of time into maintaining it each week. Maybe dedicate just fifteen minutes every week, or break it down into one drawer or section at a time.

Shop smarter.

Being aware of what is already in your kitchen can help you to be more conscious and purposeful with your shopping. Say goodbye to aimless trips to garage sales when all you’re really looking for are shot glasses or other unnecessary items. You’ll be able to make smarter decisions if you know what fits in your kitchen beforehand.

Get rid of the rubbish.

As you come across items in your home that you rarely use, it’s best to get rid of them. While it’s understandable to keep some plastic yoghurt containers, there’s no need for an extensive collection.

Low-cost decor.

Having a neat and tidy kitchen is immensely rewarding. It can also be aesthetically pleasing when you add a few decorative touches. Home decor ideas can really pop in an orderly kitchen. Refresh your kitchen look with seasonal colours by introducing new dish towels and curtains. And if you’re short on budget, try painting the cabinets’ doors or switching up their hardware for a brand new look.

Creating a clutter-free kitchen can be an intimidating task. But with the right strategies and techniques, it is possible to create an organised, beautiful and stress-free kitchen that will make cooking enjoyable. By implementing simple organisational habits, you can keep your kitchen clean and tidy, ensuring that you get things done faster and save time while cooking. With a little effort and creativity, you’ll have a well-arranged kitchen that will make your culinary experience more enjoyable!
