Baked eggs are a little luxury in my life. There is nothing better than on a dark and dreary, rainy morning preparing these oeufs cocotte and dunking a thick soldier of buttered toast into the runny golden yolks. I can visualise it so easily. Curled up on the sofa, wearing a giant cardigan, a soft and fluffy blanket draped over my legs. And these eggs are my warmth, my golden sunshine when there’s none to be had outdoors.

That Week in Paris
I went to Paris for my birthday in 2017 and, although the experience was less than fun, the food definitely made up for it.
During my stay in Paris, I had to compromise on my strict gluten-free diet which ultimately resulted in a severe reaction due to celiac. Freshly baked French breads are irresistible and had me hooked within no time. I couldn’t help myself!
My five days in Paris were amazing, but could have been much longer if given the opportunity. The food was simply delightful and made my vacation more enjoyable. The real gems and mouthwatering recipes are not easily found in touristy eateries or cafes; it takes a lot of diligence to locate these hidden gems – often traversing twisting streets and going off the beaten track.
It may have been a painful time, but it was thoroughly delicious!
Exploring the world has led me to some of my all time favourite dishes. I’m so blessed to have tried them and will always remember them fondly! Although Covid and my ex-spouse have hindered me from traveling to the extent I have wanted in the past, I can still gratefully remember the phenomenal views and delicious cuisines of the places I’ve been fortunate enough to explore.
