Bry’s Favourites

The Recipes I’d Cook to Win Someone’s Heart

These are my recipes. The ones I make time and time again, no matter what mood I’m in, and the ones I’d absolutely cook for my future husband when I’m trying to convince him that marrying me is an excellent idea. If you want to know what I genuinely love eating and cooking when nobody is asking me to develop a recipe, start here.

These are also the recipes that have me dancing around the kitchen with Spotify blaring while I cook. Usually with Lulu somewhere nearby, waiting for his opportunity to inspect whatever I’m making. He insists on sniffing practically everything that comes out of my kitchen, especially the vegetables. I’ve genuinely never known a cat so interested in green things.

Some recipes become favourites immediately. Others quietly earn their place because I find myself making them again and again until I realise they’ve become part of how I cook. My Paprika Chicken with a Creamy Sauce is here, naturally, along with my Venison and Feta Salad and my copycat version of Leggo’s Tomato, Chilli and Olive Pasta Sauce. They’re completely different dishes, but they all have that little something that makes me genuinely excited to eat them again.

This collection will keep growing as I cook, experiment and inevitably become completely obsessed with something new. I’m not including recipes here simply because they’re popular or because they photograph beautifully. They have to earn their spot by becoming something I genuinely want to cook for myself.

These are the recipes I truly, devoutly and wholeheartedly love. The food that makes me happy, the food I want to share with people I love, and the dishes that feel most like my cooking.

If you’re wondering where to start with Cooking with Bry, I’d start here.

My Favourite Recipes

My paprika chicken with a creamy sauce is rich, savoury and packed with flavour, with chicken marinated in sweet and smoked paprika before being baked until tender. The sauce combines French shallots, white wine, cream and the cooked marinade for plenty of depth without making the dish feel heavy. I love this one for an easy dinner when I want something comforting but still simple, especially with broccolini, potatoes or buttery pasta on the side.

My kangaroo and macadamia salad is fresh, filling and packed with Australian flavour, with tender grilled kangaroo, crisp lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, pecorino and roasted macadamias. A smoky honey mustard dressing brings everything together with just the right balance of sweetness and tang. I love this easy kangaroo salad for lunch or dinner because it feels light but still substantial, with plenty of texture and bold flavour in every bite.

Bold, punchy flavour with barely any effort required. Save this recipe for the nights when you need dinner on the table fast but still want something that tastes like you actually tried!

This brown rice tabbouleh recipe is a hearty, gluten-free spin on the traditional Middle Eastern salad. Nutty brown rice replaces bulgur for extra fiber and a satisfying bite, while fresh parsley, juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumber, and a bright lemon dressing bring all the classic flavors you love. Perfect as a side dish, light lunch, or part of a mezze platter, this salad is both nourishing and delicious. Let me show you how easy it is to make this wholesome favorite!

This Homemade Olive Oil Mayonnaise is smooth, creamy, and incredibly easy to make with a stick blender. Made with olive oil, egg, Dijon mustard, white wine vinegar, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, it comes together in just a few minutes. I created this recipe after searching for a mayonnaise made without seed oils, and now I rarely buy it from the supermarket. Perfect for sandwiches, salads, burgers, and homemade dressings, it's fresh, flavourful, and surprisingly simple.

A big pot of Pasta e Fagioli is one of my favourite ways to turn simple pantry staples into something deeply comforting. Tender pasta, creamy beans, vegetables, and a rich tomato broth come together to create a soup that’s hearty enough to be a meal in its own right. It’s rustic Italian comfort food at its best, perfect for chilly evenings or whenever life feels a little hectic. Filling, nourishing, and wonderfully budget-friendly, this is the kind of recipe I come back to again and again.

Smashed avocado and feta on Turkish toast is one of my favourite easy breakfasts. I mash ripe avocado with lemon juice, cracked pepper, and a pinch of dukkah, then pile it onto thick slices of toasted Turkish bread with more dukkah on top. The combo of creamy, salty, and crunchy is just so satisfying. Whether I’m having a slow weekend or need a quick weekday bite, this brunch staple always hits the spot – simple, nourishing, and full of flavour.

The chewy, olive oil–rich focaccia base is topped with caramelised veg, slices of spicy sopressa, and just enough cheese to bring it all together. It’s perfect for lunches, picnics, or honestly, just eating straight from the tray while it’s still warm. Salty, savoury, and loaded with texture, this is comfort food that never feels boring.

Egg drop soup is one of my favourite comfort recipes—quick, nourishing, and full of flavour. In this post, I share how I make it with a well-seasoned broth, gently whisked eggs, and optional add-ins like spring onion, sesame oil, or tofu. The key is in the technique: slow stirring creates those delicate egg ribbons. If you're looking for a simple, satisfying soup, this guide walks you through each step with clarity and care.
